On Friday, Ride-hailing Giant Ola said it had named Julien Geffard as Director of Go-To-Market Strategy for its electric scooter company in Europe as it plans to launch its electric scooter line in Europe in the coming months.
Geffard will be responsible for developing and increasing the European operations of Ola for its electricity sector in this capacity and will be based in Amsterdam, a statement said.
He holds over 15 years of extensive expertise in the car industry. He was the Global Commercial Director and a member of the Peugeot Motorcycles Board of Directors before joining Ola. He collaborated for Alpine, Bentley Motors Ltd and BMW.
“We are happy to announce the appointment of Julien to lead our European operations. As we gear up to bring the first of our range of electric vehicles to markets around the world, Julien’s expertise will be key to building our electric business across Europe,” Ola’s Chairman and Group CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, said.
He added that Europe is a crucial opportunity for Ola as an increasingly growing centre for electric vehicles (EVs) to achieve its goal of pushing the planet towards sustainable solutions for mobility.
Ola said it is in the early stages of setting up India’s biggest scooter development facility in the country and once completed, it will have the potential to manufacture more than two million scooters each year.
“Europe is a key market for us and our tech and digital expertise, coupled with the unique customer experience, will be key for us as we launch our products across Europe,” Geffard said.
In Europe, the two-wheeler EV industry has seen double-digit growth in 2020, with consumers opting for trendy, smart and lightweight, differentiated goods available at affordable prices.
It is expected that the growth of the EV charging system will accelerate as policymakers make stronger investments to support affordable zero-emission mobility solutions.
