India has increasingly focused on electric mobility, this much everyone seems to understand. And continuing these efforts aimed toward encouraging mass adoption of electrical vehicles in India, NITI Aayog may have some solid news to supply. the govt think factory recently said it’s working to further bring down the GST rates levied on EVs in India. Speaking during a session with students from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, Amitabh Kant, Chief military officer, NITI Aayog, noted that the govt has endeavoured to scale back the GST rate for electric vehicles further down.

The Indian government currently charges a GST of 5 per cent for electric vehicles. Whereas, for internal combustion-powered vehicles, it levies 28 per cent GST.

Kant added that not electric vehicles, but the govt is additionally aiming at a discount in GST rates for hybrid vehicles in India.
